Hi, I’m Bob.
Let's embrace the brave path
About my work
Rooted in Human Experience
I spent more than four decades working in addiction treatment—as a counselor, mentor, supervisor, and clinical director—supporting people as they found their way through recovery. Along the way, I was honored to receive several professional recognitions, including Professional of the Year from the Illinois Certification Board and a William White Achievement Award from the Illinois Association of Addictions Professionals.
In 2019, I retired from my role as Clinical Director at the Chicago facility of the Hazelden-Betty Ford Foundation. Since then, I’ve focused my time on volunteering and writing, two things that continue to keep me close to the heart of this work. My first novel, The Next Best Time (2025), explores the tangled realities of alcoholism, trauma, and shame, and the unexpected connections that help people find their footing again. I’m currently writing the sequel, following these characters into new challenges and discoveries.
